Apple might be working on a 3D display
By Adeel Inam
While smartphone manufacturers are dealing with 2k and even 4k displays, Apple might have a totally opposite concept when it comes to display technology. According to a report by China Apple is working on a new technology that is going to be used on the next iPhone probably the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and will feature a glasses free 3D screen.
The report also says that the 3D display technology that Apple is working on does not support the current In-Cell technology that is being used on the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Till now we have only seen smartphone cameras to take 3D pictures and videos that included the EVO 3D from HTC and Thrill 4G from LG both of which had two cameras at the back to take a 3D picture and a 3D video.
There is a downside to this technology though because some people are really sensitive to 3D displays and can face symptoms of headaches and nausea. A patent that Apple passed also supports this report when Apple received a patent back in September of using a screen that supported holograms.
It’s just a report which should not be taken seriously just like the use of Sapphire glass because in the end we didn't see an iPhone 6 with a Sapphire glass but it does not mean something like using a 3D display on a smartphone is not possible in the future.
Apple is a company that adopts to technology slowly an example is using an HD screen after so many years when other smartphones manufacturers were way in the lead.
What do you think about this report, though it sounds cool to have a 3D display on a smartphone but would it be useful in real life?
