Run Firefox OS Apps on Android
Now You can run Firefox OS apps on Android
According to the latest post published on Mozilla, apps that are designed forFirefox OS can run natively on Android. According to Mozilla, they believe that providing the opportunity to build open web apps that run natively on Android is the key to a better understanding and communication between different OEMs working together.
Even though Firefox OS app store has a very limited number of apps, there are still few apps that are exclusive to Firefox OS only. So, if a user finds an exclusive Firefox OS app interesting and wants to have it on his/her Android device, he/she can now have it. With the release of the latest Firefox for Android v29, users can now run any Firefox OS app on their Android smartphone and it will perform just like a native app.
How is it possible to run Firefox OS apps on Android
Apps that are made for Firefox OS and installed on Android behave like any other native app developed for android using native Java language. They will appear as a regular app in the app drawer. Users can delete them the same way they do with other apps. Although, these apps do not follow the Android UI conventions and that’s why, few of the games or apps that rely heavily on graphics, might not work properly on Android.
This new feature will give an assurance to the developers of Firefox OS apps that their apps can also run on Android and is not limited to Firefox OS only. Mozilla would like that the developers should work in a web based environment to develop apps for Firefox OS but it all comes down to the preferences of developers, whether they are willing to switching to a new language and tools only to build apps for an OS that is used by few people (Firefox OS).
