Swyp, Smart Card For A Slimmer Wallet
How To Make Your Wallet Thinner?
If you're like me, your wallet is full of cards. Credit cards, debit cards, loyalty cards and gift cards. Over the past few years, there has been a number of high-tech smart cards that aim to slim down your wallet.
Swyp takes the classic card form and allows users to switch between cards they have stored on the Swyp using the handy scroll buttons built in to the card. There is also a built in display that shows which card you have selected.
You can add new card details to your Swyp by running the cards through a card reader that plugs into your smartphone running the Swyp Card app.
The card is rechargeable, and has up to a 2 year life, and will function like any other magnetic swipe card.
It has has a built-in security mode that means the card will only function when within Bluetooth range of your phone. But don’t worry if you forget your phone, or you run out of charge as a pin number can be used instead.
It will try to predict which card you intend to use, depending on your previous shopping habits, to try to save you even more time.
The card can store details of up to 25 cards and is Chip and Pin ready, although this will not be functional until the last quarter of 2015. There is also plans to add NFC technology with future hardware changes, so it may be worth holding off ordering one until these features are live.
Price for the card is currently US$49, but with the added functionality, it will rise to $99.
I think few of us here at TechPicks will be jumping at the chance to have one of these in our wallets.
