Takee 1 – World’s First Holographic Smartphone
Holographic projections and displays have always been a dream and a distant idea, only appearing in futuristic and sci-fi movies/TV series. That is until now, as a Chinese firm by the name of Takee has claimed to produce the world’s first holographic smartphone. They released a promo video for the smartphone, named Takee 1, showing off its holographic capabilities, other unique features and the design of the mobile itself, also explaining its inner workings as to how holographic displays are possible on the device. In the video the user was even seen playing the game Fruit Ninja by slicing the holographic images over the screen.
With the advances in 3D technology a few years back, mobile companies have been looking into the idea of 3D phones that would allow users to view content and games in 3D without the use of 3D glasses or such. However, Takee has one-upped them with their innovation. With a quad-cam structure of 4 front-facing cameras - similar to that of the Amazon Fire Phone – the phone tracks the eye movements of the user and enables it to produce holographic images that appear to be above the screen. The user can also interact with these holographic images (holograms) via several hand gestures such as hand waving, pinching, sliding, etc. However it should be noted that these are still claims by the company, and so far it only seems that the phone can only observe your eye movements and create a certain depth effect that creates 3D images on the phone’s screen just like the Amazon Fire Phone. Another sources states the holographic imaging is possible by attaching a spider-like attachment to the back of the phone. But unless the phone is out in the market, nothing can be said for sure about the impressive standards the company has set for Takee 1.
Another unique aspect of the Takee 1 is the two camera lenses on the back, designed for the user to capture 3D images and even 3D print scanned images which is pretty cool. The rest of the specifications of the phone are also seemingly impressive as the Takee 1 has 5.5-inch screen, a high definition 1080p display, dual stereo speakers providing for enhanced sound, octa-core MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, internal storage of 32GB and a battery of 2400mAh capacity. The Takee 1 comes with a 13-Megapixel camera with a Sony Exmor RS sensor and a front-facing camera of 2.0-Megapixel. The phone will be available in black and white, but also in 18k gold in a limited edition.
